Find the Top Milk-Producing States in India
India is the world's largest milk-producing country and also has the highest milk consumer. In 2023, the highest recorded milk production was 230.58 million tonnes. Between 1950 and 1960, the country experienced a milk shortage. Although India has the largest cattle population, the milk production is still below 21 million tonnes. Uttar Pradesh is the top milk-producing state, accounting for 38.79 million tonnes of production and a 16.21% share of the total.
