Welcome to Tygart Lake State Park
Tygart Lake State Park is a cozy, quiet getaway for couples and families. It sits among West Virginia's rolling hills and alongside 10-mile long, 1,750-acre Tygart Lake. It's also perfect for small group conferences and retreats and is a favorite spot for family reunions. Tygart Lake visitors enjoy great fishing and boating (seasonal) on the mountain-stream fed waters of the lake. Guests that kayak or canoe find mid-week days best for this pursuit. Tygart Lodge overlooks the lake and offers some of the most comfortable and appealing guest rooms in West Virginia's renowned state park system. In addition to the lake, Tygart features five hiking trails, camping, and two gift shops. Programs and recreation activities are offered in summer months. A number of historical and popular attractions are near the park. Tygart Lake is a flood control lake protecting areas from West Virginia to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During the summer months the lake is held at a relatively normal water level. Between mid-September and April, the lake is drawn down in anticipation of heavier precipitation. The bass fishing is excellent and trout stocking occurs in the tailwaters. Tygart Lake Lodge is open year-round. The vacation cabins are open mid-April through December 31. The campground is open from mid-April until late autumn.
