Welcome to Bluestone State Park
Bluestone State Park encompasses over 2,100 acres of rugged, heavily forested, mountainous terrain, and provides a wide variety of water-oriented activities for guests visiting and residents of southern West Virginia. At this wilderness park, just five miles south of Hinton, are nestled 26-modern cabins for rent, a campground and outdoor recreational facilities. The extra plus is that Bluestone State Park is adjacent to Bluestone Lake, the state's third largest body of water. Pipestem Resort State Park is only 10 miles to the south. Just north of the park is the Army Corps of Engineers, Bluestone Dam, The Historic Town of Hinton, and the New River Gorge National River, the center of the state's best whitewater rafting and canoeing adventure. Sandstone Falls, north of Hinton is a special boardwalk area and watery view are a must see for a make-a-memory visit when in the Hinton area. Bluestone National Wild and Scenic River flows into Bluestone Lake within the Bluestone State Park boundaries. Hunting and fishing opportunities abound at 17,632 acre Bluestone Wildlife Management Area adjacent to the park and nearby Camp Creek State Park and State Forest.

BLUESTONE STATE PARK CAMPGROUNDS
A variety of camping opportunities are available for the avid outdoorsman visiting Bluestone State Park. The campgrounds at Bluestone State Park are located in the flood storage basin of the Bluestone Lake and are open from early May to late October, depending upon the water level.
One tent or trailer per site

Firewood is available for a nominal fee
There are 120-sites maintained in four campgrounds

MEADOR CAMPGROUND
Meador Campground is 32-site facility with 7 of these sites with electric & water hookups, and 15 with electric only. The sites are open to RV camping or tent camping. There is central bathhouse with hot showers. A sewage disposal station is available.

TENT AREA CAMPGROUND
Five rustic sites make up this facility area. It is designed for group camping.

OLD MILL CAMPGROUND
Old Mill offers 44 rustic campsites and has a central bathhouse with cold showers. This campground is open to tent or trailer camping.

EAST SHORE CAMPGROUND
Thirty-nine primitive sites make up East Shore Campground. These sites are accessible by boat only. East Shore Campground is located in the flood storage basin of the Bluestone Lake and are open from April 15 to October 15, depending upon the water level.

RESERVABLE CAMPSITES
Bluestone State Park has 22-sites designated for reservations, while the remaining sites are rented on a first-come, first-served basis. Campsite reservations are taken in advance for designated sites from the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day. Outside the reservable dates, all sites become first-come, first-served basis.

CABINS
Interior of Bluestone cabinOvernight guests at Bluestone State Park may choose from 25-Classic cabins in a variety of sizes suitable for two to six persons. Three of the cabins settings are lake views. Of modern design and frame construction, the cabins feature beautiful, wood-paneled walls, stone fireplaces and forced air furnaces. Bluestone State Park also features one Vacation cabin that is ADA accessible. Of modern design and frame construction, this accessible cabin features beautiful wood-paneled walls, forced air furnace and air-conditioning. The Vacation cabin comes equipped the same as a Classic cabin with the exception of wood for burning. The Vacation cabin has a propane fireplace.
Each Classic cabin comes equipped with:

bed linens
blankets
towels
modern appliances
hot showers
most with wood burning fireplaces with a modest amount of wood provided
pedestal-type charcoal grills and picnic table are outdoors at each cabin
all cabin types feature an outdoor campfire ring
Bluestone State Park has a total of 26 cabins available for rent. Fourteen of the 26-cabins are open year- round for rental and the remaining twelve are seasonal rentals. Cabin guests are welcome to use nearby Pipestem Resort State Park's indoor facilities including indoor swimming pool and saunas. Pipestem is nine miles and approximately a 10 minute drive from Bluestone State Park.

BLUESTONE LAKE
hiking trail and lake overlookThe lake provides excellent fishing for bluegill, large and smallmouth bass, hybrid bass, striped bass, crappie and catfish. Boating and water-skiing round out the lake activities.

FISHING RECORDS
The state record in length and in weight for striped bass was caught at Bluestone Lake – the record length for striped bass in WV is currently 47.16 inches and record weight 45.70 pounds.

BLUESTONE MARINA
Bluestone State Park offers guests many recreational opportunities at the marina. Depending on lake conditions, the Marina is open April 15th through October 15th. Fishing boats, pontoon boats, paddle boats, rowboats and canoes, as well as slip rentals and boat trailer parking are available at the rates shown below.
For boat rental reservation, call 304-466-1010. The marina is operated by a marina concessionaire on behalf of Bluestone State Park.

GAME COURTS
Throughout the summer season, a wide variety of sports and special events are featured. Equipment is available for rent at the park office of a nominal fee.

SUMMER NATURE AND RECREATION ACTIVITIES
In addition, special weekly programs are provided by the park naturalist for your entertainment. Included in such events are nature hikes, movies, slide shows, volleyball and softball games, wiener roasts, and other family oriented activities.

SWIMMING POOL
The outdoor swimming pool at Bluestone State Park is usually open Wednesday through Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. From Memorial Weekend until mid-June and again from mid-August until Labor Day weekend, the pool will be open on weekends only and will not be open during the weekdays. Call the park and check for specific days and hours. Pool is subject to seasonal closures.
Cabin guests of Bluestone State Park may also take advantage of the Pipestem Resort indoor pool at McKeever Lodge.

HIKING
Bluestone State Park is laced with a number of intriguing hiking trails. Some of these afford panoramic views of Bluestone's picturesque lake and mountainous terrain.

WI-FI
Guests needing wireless connectivity will find Wi-Fi available at Bluestone State Park office and at the laundry area. There is no charge for this amenity.
