Welcome to River Retreat Campground and Marina
Considered the Walleye Capital of the World on Lake Erie. River Retreat is just minutes from the Jet Express to Put-N-Bay and the Lake Erie Islands.
River Retreat is located on the scenic Portage River, only 1.5 miles by boat to Lake Erie. There are 5 beautiful area beaches on Lake Erie that are within a short drive of the campground. A few of the local attractions are Cedar Point which is 35 minutes away, or African Safari and Monsoon Lagoon at 10 minutes. Visit the Port Clinton Visitors Bureau for more information on exciting area attractions.
When the lake is to rough you can still enjoy boating, fishing, jet skiing and other water sports on the Portage River. River Retreat is a small family Campground and Marina. If you enjoy the peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of life then you will want to come and stay with us. Holiday weekends offer great food and fun with family and friends.
RV campsites for seasonal and overnight camping are offered along with dockage for your boat or Jet Ski and tent camping. River Retreat is less than 2 miles from Camp Perry Military Base which is the home of the Red Horse Battalion and National Rifle matches. NRA members are always welcome.

Within Facility
Camp Store - We have available for purchase ice cream, candy, pop, bottled water, fishing tackle, bait, ice, firewood, bug spray and other miscellaneous supplies.
Restrooms and Showers - There is an area in the main camp with restrooms and a dump station for RV’s, and a new shower house by the office. All restrooms in the campground are flush style.
Fishing Cleaning Station - You can clean your fish while in the shade of a covered cleaning station. Lighted for night cleaning and electric outlets for electric knifes. Fresh water also a cleaning station.
Playground- We have a great playground for kids which are easily seen from most campsites. There is also a basketball court, volleyball, badminton and horse shoes. All equipment is available at the office free of charge.
Fishing - You can fish along the banks of Portage River or in the marina for small pan fish including Crappie, Blue Gill, Bass and Cat fish.
Relaxation - Enjoy a bike ride in the campground or just sit by the water and watch the river go by or watch for a beautiful sun set along the banks of the Portage River.
Water Play – The Portage River can be the best place to play on the water. You can canoe, boat, water ski, tube, jet ski or just swim. Have a paddle boat? You can do that too!
