Website:
Paint River Hills Campground was built in 2003 and sits on 36 acres of scenic bluffs along the Paint River in downtown Crystal Falls. Guests are provided with easy access to both the State and County ORV trail systems. The Campground is located 3 blocks North of M-69 (Superior Avenue) and 3 blocks East of the US-2/M-69 intersection.

The campground offers a short, scenic, and unusual hiking trail through cool bluffs, calcite outcroppings, and 140 year old cedars. Multilingual tree identification markers featuring the native Ojibwe language are displayed throughout the campground and along the trail.
DeLorge photo

In 2003 an Ojibwa wigwam was constructed in the campground by local Native, Earl Otchingwanigan and is the subject of a documentary entitled “Earl’s Wigwam”. The wigwam has since been removed but the documentary is still available for purchase from the Hannahville Indian School, N14911 Hannahville B-1 Road, Wilson, MI 49896.
