Welcome to Hearthstone Point Campground
Visitors to the Lake George Area should be aware of actions they can take to reduce the transport of aquatic invasives. Please visit the Protect Lake George website (live link in right column) and DEC Fisheries for more information. Located on picturesque Lake George just 2 miles north of the Village of Lake George, this has become a very popular vacation location. Lake George region offers some of the most diverse recreation opportunities in NYS. A Junior Naturalist Program is also offered at Hearthstone, and the successful camper can earn a naturalist patch for their efforts.

Hearthstone Point Campground has 13 accessible camp sites, picnic tables, showers, rest rooms, and a gazebo. Full listing of DECs Accessible Recreation Destinations.
All types of watercraft allowed on the lake. There is no boat launch at this facility.
Fish present in Lake George include: lake trout, landlocked salmon, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, and a variety of pan fish.
Nearby hiking opportunities include Prospect Mountain. The red-marked 1 5/8 mile hiking trail leads to the summit of the mountain. There is no fee for hikers and on a clear day, the 100-mile view from Prospect's summit encompasses five states. Although there are a few strenuous spots along the way, climbing to the summit is not considered difficult for those in reasonably good shape. Part of the trail follows the road bed of the former railway that served the once-thriving hotel on the mountain. For a fee, users can drive to the summit on the Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway.
Designated swimming areas are available at some DEC facilities. Based on staffing, some of these facilities may have limited swimming hours/days. For the safety of our customers, swimming will only be permitted when a lifeguard is on duty. Beach hours will be posted at facilities with swimming.
