El Capitan State Beach Campground is a perfect destination for West Coast highway travelers and a wonderful place for a family vacation. The campground is located amongst many trees, on a bluff facing the Pacific Ocean, adjacent to a great beach north of Santa Barbara in Southern California. The coastline in this area boasts high cliffs, sandy beaches, rocky tide pools and lots of surf. Keep your eyes peeled and you may be lucky enough to spot majestic dolphins, elephant seals, and sea lions in the water! This beach is considered one of the most northern places in the state where the water is warm enough to bathe in, so bring your suits and the kids and have a ball in the water!

 

El Capitan State Beach Campground is a relatively large campground, with 142 sites for tents or motor homes up to 30 feet long. El Capitan State Beach Campground is open year round and reservations should be made well in advance – it is a very popular spot and may be crowded during summer holidays and weekends. Facilities in the campground include flush toilets, drinking water, coin operated showers, a laundromat, picnic tables and fire grills. Summer lifeguard service is available. There is also a small convenience store nearby, open during the summer months.
