Welcome to Fayette Historic State Park
Fayette Historic State Park is located in the Garden Peninsula and is home to a historic townsite, harbor, campground, lodge, stunning cliffs and trails, as well as opportunities to fish, bike, paddle and more. Visitors are invited to experience Fayette's Historic Townsite, which brings this once bustling industrial community that manufactured charcoal pig iron between 1867 and 1891 back to life. Guided tours are available or visitors are welcome to explore the area on their own. Historical interpretation is provided by the Michigan History Center On the second Saturday of August, the park is transformed back to its glory days with period displays, food and music during the annual Heritage Day event. The event celebrates the "hey-day" of Fayette as a bustling iron smelting company town. Scuba diving is permitted in the harbor during certain times of the day. A fee and use permit is required. All submerged artifacts are to remain in place and nothing is to be removed from the harbor bottom.
