Family Camping
Big Run has 29 primitive campsites available year-round. Sites 60-75 are wooded, with stone dust camping pads. Sites 78-90 are in an open grassy field. Each campsite has a picnic bench and fire ring. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A self registration station is located in the lower camping area, along Savage River Rd. Pets are permitted in any of the campsites, on a leash.

Group Campsite/Shelter
The Monroe Run Pavilion is available for rental year-round. The shelter and three adjoining campsites can accommodate up to 25 people. The shelter has a fireplace and electricity. Youth Group Campsite
The Youth Group campsite is available by reservation. It has a central camping pad, with a fire ring and picnic table, and a parking area along the road. Tents may be set up on durable surfaces in the site. The site can accommodate up to 40 youth and adults. Restrooms - Big Run has two waterless toilet facilities, one at the intersection of Big Run Road and Savage River Road, and the other along Big Run Road, near the Monroe Run Pavilion.
Drinking Water - Water is not available at Big Run. Please plan ahead and bring drinking water.
Big Run Pavilion - The Big Run Pavilion is available year-round for weddings, reunions, and other large group events. It can accommodate up to 75 people for events between 8:00 A.M. and sunset. Alcohol is permitted with a special permit.

Picnicking - Picnic tables are available in the Day Use area of the park, along Big Run Road at the intersection with Savage River Rd. These tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Trails - The lower trailhead of the Monroe Run Trail is located adjacent to campsite 62 at Big Run State Park. A small parking area is available. The Monroe Run Trail is open to hikers only – no mountain bikes or ATVs.
Alcohol Policy - Alcohol is prohibited in all areas of Big Run State Park, except at the Big Run Pavilion when a special permit has been issued.
All Maryland State Parks are trash-free. Please take your trash home with you and remember to reduce, reuse and recycle.
