Free Camping at Smithsonian Butte
No camping within 1/2 mile of either side of the road along the Smithsonian Butte National Back Country Byway. Once on top of the plateau, there are 4x4 routes onto the mesa arms that are open to camping. There is also a two-wheel drive route into the Gooseberry Mesa area where there are trailheads and bathroom facilities.
