FMCA is busy making final preparations for its upcoming 103rd International Convention and RV Expo, slated for July 7-10 in Gillette, Wyo.

The CAM-PLEX Multi-Event Facilities will host the convention for the third time in eight years, and the event has been dubbed “The Spirit of Wyoming” in honor of the host state.

“We’re excited to be in Gillette for our July celebration of all things RVing,” FMCA National President Jon Walker told RVBusiness. “It will be great to enjoy the hospitality of the folks at CAM-PLEX and in the city of Gillette once again as we start to return to normal and to resume the travel and the gatherings that are the fabric of the FMCA RV Club. CAM-PLEX has become one of our favorite convention sites, and we’re looking forward to this return visit.”

The owners of about 1,250 RVs will travel to the Equality State to take part. “That’s well below normal,” said Doug Uhlenbrock, FMCA’s director of events. “We don’t have any Canadian attendees, so that has some impact on our numbers. Plus, I believe there are still some folks who aren’t quite ready to be around large crowds of people just yet.”

The convention will be light on RVs for sale as well, as manufacturers and dealers don’t have much to show right now. But attendees can still check out the latest from Alliance RV and REV Recreation Group, along with units brought in by dealers RV Country and National Indoor RV Centers.

Even if this convention will host the smallest crowd for the non-profit RV education organization since the 1980s, a big event is still planned. 70s pop-rock stars Three Dog Night will headline the entertainment on Friday night, with several other bands and performers filling out the four-day weekend. Over 100 seminars will be offered on topics ranging from tire maintenance to safe driving, to RVing to Alaska. And a variety of social events are planned, which has organizers excited after having to cancel two conventions in 2020 and manage strict COVID-19 protocols at the spring event in Perry, Ga.

“For this event, we are back to business as usual, said Uhlenbrock. “We are encouraging people who haven’t been vaccinated to wear a mask, along with those who may not be comfortable being out in public without one.”
