Kaibab Camper Village is your destination spot for camping on the northern rim of the Grand Canyon. Nestled in the trees off of Highway 67, just 1/4 of a mile below Highway 89A, the campground offers a serene setting amidst the tall Ponderosa Pines.
The campground offers FHU sites and can accommodate RPGs up to 40ft. They also have sites for tent camping and offer a couple of cabins for those without a camper. We were there for two nights. The camp hosts were friendly, professional and accommodating. The camp employs Workampers for those seeking working opportunities. They offer a laundry and showers. Less than 1/2 miles is the historic Kaibab Lodge which offers food, overnight accommodations, and gifts.
Kaibab Camper Village is about a forty minute drive from the North Rim Lodge of the Grand Canyon. Keep in mind the canyon’s north rim is not open year-round. Route 67 usually closes by December 1st, or earlier depending on the amount of snow. The road remains closed till around mid-May.
If you like a smaller campground, you will love Kaibab Village. Jacob’s Lake if a short walk, and you never know what wildlife you may see. Coming from east or west, there is a decent climb up onto the plateau. Take your time, prepare to kick back, and enjoy the majesty of Arizona in the trees.
