Welcome to Monte Sano State Park
Monte Sano, Spanish for “Mountain of Health,” rises more than 1,600 feet above sea level. The mountain has attracted visitors since the mid 1820’s with the establishment of the town of Viduta, a derivative of the Spanish word “Vida,” meaning life. Viduta was home to a sanatorium and a hotel resort, Hotel Monte Sano, which opened its doors in 1887 and closed in the early 1900s due to a declining economy. The Monte Sano Lodge offers a serene mountain setting that is ideal for a variety of meetings and gatherings including weddings and family reunions and also is an excellent location for business meetings. The facility features state of the art meeting rooms that will make any business meeting a success. Fourteen rustic cabins, 11 of which were built by the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), are perched on the side of the mountain and are equipped with kitchens, fireplaces, separate showers and baths, cable television, outdoor grills, picnic tables, and porches for taking in the amazing sunrises. The park also features 89 improved campsites, a primitive campground and a camp store.
