Welcome to Blue Springs State Park
Summer is hot in the Wiregrass Region of Alabama, which makes Blue Springs State Park in Cilo the perfect place to cool off. This park may be a secret swimming hole to the locals, but it is well worth the drive from anywhere in the state. While Blue Springs is a great summertime spot, it is welcoming year-round. If you are looking for a place to slow down and enjoy some peace and quiet, this is it! The park’s main attractions, the swimming pools, are fed by a crystal-clear underground spring that remains a cool 68 degrees year-round. The spring pumps 3,600 gallons of water per minute into the dual octagonal sandy-bottomed pools. Once over the spillway, kids can search for critters among the rocks in the shallows before it flows into west fork of the Choctawhatchee River. Shake the chill of the spring off with a game of volleyball, fishing in the pond, a bike ride around the park or just get lazy in the sun before your next dip. Ready for lunch? Bring a picnic or visit Hagler’s Barbeque across the street from the park office. There are several pavilions with picnic tables or just spread out a blanket in the park’s many green spaces and enjoy. The pavilions are also available to rent for almost any occasion. While the pools are the main attraction, the camping is excellent as well. Forty-seven modern campsites, seven of which have sewer hook-up, are each outfitted with a picnic table and grill, and campfires are allowed. Visitors can tent camp in the modern and primitive areas. A bathhouse and play areas are conveniently located in the campground.
