Salmon Lake State Park is nestled along the Clearwater River between the majestic Mission and Swan Mountain Ranges. Salmon Lake provides a beautiful and tranquil setting to enjoy many types of water recreation activities. Salmon Lake and Clearwater River are home to a variety of fish including rainbow, cutthroat, brown, brook and bull trout, largemouth bass, white mountain whitefish, kokanee salmon, yellow perch and northern pike. There are opportunities to view many species of birds including red-necked grebes, great blue herons, bald eagles, water fowl, osprey and common loons. Experience the waters on Salmon Lake from the quiet of a canoe to the thrill of water-skiing. Camping and a variety of water sports are popular activities in this woodland setting of western larch, ponderosa pine, and Douglas-fir. Ranger programs are offered weekends and weekdays from June through early August in the park's amphitheater. This park is situated on 42 acres of land at 3,917 feet in elevation. Salmon Lake State Park has 20 campsites.
