The San Timoteo Canyon is a historic site and state property under the management and development of the California State Park System. It features San Timoteo Canyon, which is an ancient river valley transformed into a scenic location and destination in these modern days.

Formed into what it is today after millions of years, the San Timoteo Canyon marked 1870 as the year it started its introduction to the modern times. It was opened to the general public with the development of the Southern Pacific Railroad and served as an entry route to the Southern California basin.

It was recently acquired by the state government in 2001, and is still under the process of being transformed into a state park or recreation area.
